| 5/17/02 May 17, 2002, NO GAMBLING EXPANSION. This has been the most dangerous year ever for gambling expansion. At 5:30 this afternoon the kiddie slot bill came to the floor for a vote. An amendment had removed the kiddie gambling and the bill passed with no gambling expansion. Removing the $500 loss limit did not come up for a vote. All day long it was touch and go on the track bill. It was impossible to determine how the senators would vote. The track bill did not come up before the 6:00 pm deadline. Another 15 minutes and it would have been on the Senate floor for a vote. We will update you on our heroes and more details as soon as possible. For now - Thanks be to our God, Mark Andrews Lynn and Kerry Messer Janet Englebach Our fabulous House and Senate members who strategized and fought to hold the line on gambling The four Senators who filibustered the track bill on Wednesday And all of you that responded when you were needed WHAT A GREAT DAY! |
