THE MESSAGE

PLEASE PASS THE GOODLATTE-LEACH BILL "THE INTERNET GAMBLING PROHIBITION AND ENFORCEMENT ACT" NOT JUST THE LEACH VERSION.

WE NEED THE "WIRE ACT" IN THE GOODLATTE BILL

UPDATE FROM D.C. The big problem is that updating the Wire Act is not likely to ever happen if we tout the Leach-only bill as solving the Internet gambling problem. Then how can anyone come back and argue that the Wire Act is crucial to stop Internet gambling when they decided to drop that from this bill? We will be in a very tough situation and DOJ will be left to only pursue sports-related betting crimes at the national level, as they are limited today.

ACTION ALERT
FROM NATIONAL COALITION AGAINST LEGALIZED GAMBLING

9.05.06 WWW.NCALG.ORG

Congress is back in session, and there are only a few weeks left for their action or they will have to start all over next session.

The House passed the important Leach/Goodlatte Internet gambling ban bill, H.R. 4411, by an overwhelming bipartisan majority, but the Senate has yet to act.

The Senate version of this Internet gambling ban bill is being brought to the Senate by Jon Kyl.

The new law will cut off the money flow. It will make it illegal to use bank instruments, including credit cards, to fund interstate and international gambling transactions on the Internet. No money, no bets.

Equally as important, the bill brings old laws up to date so everyone will understand that interstate and international Internet gambling ARE illegal.

Because of the Abramoff scandal, this year is a real opportunity to pass this bill. . It's important to act quickly.
